You can have an IRA even if you don’t earn income from a job. If you can answer “Yes” to these three questions you are eligible for a Spousal IRA.
Are you married?
Do you file a joint tax return?
Does your spouse have earned income?
If you answered “Yes” then you can open, or contribute to, a Spousal IRA. The contribution and earnings limits are the same as those for a Traditional or Roth IRA. And, yes, we do this.
